Uphill Slog back to Skagway

Did I mention that things were wet and cold. After Lowe Inlet we got a nice break from the steady rain. Some sailing and motoring got us to Pillsbury Cove across from Prince Rupert. The plan was to go into Prince Rupert the next day and resupply. We had a leisurely dinner then I got the brain wave to check the weather forecast. It was grim with gales and storms for the next two days starting the next morning. On the spur of the moment as it was getting dark we headed into Venn Passage and across Chatham Sound, Dixon Entrance and on to Ketchikan. It was an epic night of motoring with some moonlight to make things more hospitable. We arrived in Ketchikan as the gale was developing. We had a few hair raising moments while docking and then settled in. It rained more in the next 24 hours than I have ever imagined possible. The rains were accompanied by high winds and it was not fun walking around in Ketchikan.

After that it was a lot of motoring either in calm or against a North wind. The last couple of days we sailed down the Lynn Canal.  We arrived in Skagway on a cold blustery day with more cold and bluster in the forecast.
And just like that the trip was over. Into the loving arms of our spouses we went. And now the whole thing is a vague foggy memory.
