Nanaimo

We have a lot of catching up to do.

But first we will knock off Nanaimo, which we are thoroughly enjoying. For three nights we were anchored in Mark Bay, which is off Newcastle Island. We have circumnavigated Protection Island as well as Newcastle Island. There are miles of walking with great views over Nanaimo and Georgia Strait. Today for the first time we could see Vancouver off in the distance.

The weather has been pretty nice, with just the odd light shower.
Saturday we had Thanksgiving Dinner in the Dinghy Dock Pub. It was great and of course we ate too much. We did take the passenger ferry over to Nanaimo. There is a great marine store here and I have been able to make a bit of a dent in my marine maintenance list. Today I replaced my depth sounder. It seems to work which is a big relief to both of us.
While shopping at the food store we ran into Angus and Christine, former neighbours of ours. While we were talking Alexis Petersen walked by and then Yammy recognized two other Whitehorse residents.
We have moved the boat to the downtown marina for a couple of nights. We will stock up and work on the boat and see a movie or two. Then it is off to the Gulf Islands we think.
