The harbour mistress was very nice and let us keep our slip for a month. So here we are
tied to the dock with multiple lines. It has been windy and rainy. At times it has gusted to fifty knots and halyards on a hundred boats are flapping against their masts. One of the reasons I wanted to come to Port Townsend was that there were so many sailboats and so many interesting sailboats. Sailboats outnumber power boats at least ten to one. There are also scads of wooden boats, some meticulously maintained and others hovering on the edge of dereliction.

There are two marinas in town. We are Boat Haven, the one away from downtown, and in the more industrial area of town. Every service imaginable for boats is down here. Also a big supermarket, multiple coffee shops and restaurants and three brew pubs. The more touristy downtown is about a kilometer walk away. There is a beautiful freshwater lake about 500 meters away. The classier uptown is about a kilometer away, most of it uphill.
Port Townsend was very prosperous at the turn of the century. The architecture uptown and downtown is remarkable.
Though the weather has been poor there are still lots of flowers around.
Being from the north I continue to be fascinated by the trees.
We have spent the last three days walking around but there is still lots to explore. The bus that goes all around Jefferson County costs $1.50 for a day pass.
